The Asturian region is characterised by its varied landscape, where, within a distance of scarcely forty kilometres, we find the imposing Cantabrian mountain range, with heights of around 3,000 metres, and where, on the long coast, impressive cliffs are followed by accessible beaches with fine sand. All this combines to give mountain scenery with strong contrasts, with the predominating green of its forests and fields, the result of a damp, temperate climate with clear Atlantic influence.
